Dunkaroos: My long lost love.

With box art like this, you know you're in for a hell of a good snack time
Oh the mighty Dunkaroo, to me, the pinnacle of my childhood snackdom. I would anxiously await lunch time in elementary school when I knew I would be having this, with my same lunch I would bring from home everyday(PB&J sandwich, apple/banana and a juicebox/Squeez-it).

I was less than pleased to say the least when I found out they had stopped making them(or so I had thought). Over time I simply forgot about this awesome snack until about 3 years ago. I was hanging out with my friend Rick, just playing some games and waxing nostalgic about games and shows, and just about anything awesome from our childhoods. We came to the topic of food(thanks to my mention of the beyond words awesome Hi-C Ecto Cooler) and rick said "bro, you remember Dunkaroos?", I remember laughing a bit and saying "holy shit, I do". So a few days later I decided to do some searching around the interwebz to see if by chance, Dunkaroos still existed. After browsing forums, blogs, and just generally a lot of boring shit for about four hours, I came across a guy from Wisconsin saying his local Dollar General had them in stock regularly, but only the cinnamon/vanilla ones. This both pleased and saddened me, due to the fact that while I did enjoy the aforementioned flavor, my favorite was the Honey graham cookies and chocolate frosting, oh well.

So the following day I call up the local Dollar General and ask them if they have dunkaroos, they say yes, I proceed to say "are you shitting me?" lady on the other end "uh....yea, we have them". I head out there, find them next to some nondescript bland cookies and pick up three boxes of them. I head to the check out and buy them, the lady asks me if I had called earlier in the day I laughed and just said "yes", took my change and headed home. I got home and opened a box of them, taking out one of the packs, opening it and just being taken back to my childhood. You see, oh dear readers for sitting in that small blue plastic bin/tray type thing is about 12 tiny cookies and some relatively mediocre looking frosting.

Well now, doesn't that look delicious?
These small cinnamon graham cookies, and the vanilla frosting with "rainbow sprinkles", it all its simple form is just GOOD. As you dip the cookie into the frosting and take your first bite, it assults your taste buds with a wonderful mix of sweet creamy vanilla frosting, and a slight tinge but great taste of the presumably faux cinnamon in the aforementioned cookies.

I can't recommend these enough to anybody, you need to just take it upon your self to purchase some(especially if you have never had any, or if you get high, they are a great smoke snack). They are $2 a box, and its the best damn two dollars you can spend on a snack, and if you are like me, a slice of childhood.
